Password Generation

• Password Generator 2005 features unique concept of customizable built-in and user-defined character groups, through which you can easily specify which characters will appear in a password, how often they will appear, and where they will be positioned. You can easily set the density of a character group as well as define what characters are in the character group. This allows you to create extremely customized passwords. For example you can easily create a password containing only lower case vowels and upper case consonants.

  • Selective Placement Operator - <1;mask1,mask2,mask3>...<1>...<1>
    Probably the most powerful operator. Basically it allows for "if A goes to X, then B goes to Y, and if A goes to Y, then B goes to X" scenario. For example, if you want EITHER numbers OR uppercase letters to appear EITHER at 3rd OR 6th position in a password, and yet you want to see BOTH numbers AND uppercase letters in a password at either of the positions, you need to use selective placement operator.
  • Random Distribution Operator - ( ... )
    This operator lets your masks have regions where characters from various character groups are distributed randomly. For example: (uuunn) mask can have any of the following outcomes - A1B2C, 12ABC, 1ABC2, etc.
  • Random Length Operator - {x,a,b}
    This operator lets your masks have regions with characters from specified character group of various lengths. For example: {u,2,5} can have any of the following outcomes - AB, ABCD, ABCDE, etc.
  • Custom String Operator - [ ... ]
    This operator allows you to include any custom text or character in your passwords. For example [-whatever-]n mask will output -whatever-1.
  • Nesting Operators
    You can nest operators in one another to produce even more astonishing results! For example: (uunn[---]nn{u,1,5}).
  • Dictionaries
    Furthermore, you can use customized (concatenated and with tweaked letter case) words from built-in or user-defined dictionaries in your masks too! For example (ul)[-]Ann will output aB-someword23.

• Password Generator 2005 has enhanced dictionaries support. You can use built-in topical dictionaries or create your own dictionaries in just a few clicks. Furthermore, for each dictionary you can specify various options that determine the way in which the words are selected. For example you can specify that only words with lengths between 6 and 9 are to be selected.
• Several properties were added to the dictionary objects: Trim (allows for trimming of dictionary items before they are used in passwords), Use Once (dictionary item is used only once in a password per generation process), and Preview (instantly previews the effects of Trim, Concatenate, Filter, Word Length, Letter Case Mask, and other properties).

Security

• Password Generator 2005 ensures that passwords are secure by using new random seed every time it calls a randomizing function. This way to generate one password it would use at least 10 different random seeds. This ensures that the generated password will be strong and very difficult to crack.
• Common Passwords Filter is a new feature that makes sure no commonly used passwords, e.g. "000000" will appear in the password lists, thus making sure that Password Generator 2005 will generate only highly secure passwords. A list of common passwords can be easily edited, allowing you to add new potentially dangerous passwords to the list.
• Password Generator can check for duplicate passwords in a password list and automatically remove them if it finds any.
• You can select not to use similar characters in the same password, so that only one character from each similar character group will appear in the same password to avoid confusion, e.g. "0", instead of all "0", "O", and "o".
